I have been in Korea for three months and I am amazed at how many friends I have made in such a short length of time. The people are very friendly and hospitable. This is the first time I had taught English to foreign learners and I was a little nervous about teaching before I arrived, but I got into the flow of it quite quickly and I have to say that teaching the kids English came so naturally and I find it to be so much fun, and seeing how quickly the students learn gives me a great deal of pleasure.

What do I like best about working in Korea? I don’t know where to start. Life here is perfect, I can save a lot of money, the sun shines everyday, there are luxury Karaoke rooms that are open 24 hours a day, there’s a swish jazz bar two floors above my apartment. This place is electric and there’s a real buzz of excitement wherever you go, and Koreans love to party.

I came to teach English in Korea to save money. Although it was my original intention to stay for only one year, I have had such an amazing experience and made so many new friends that I’ve decided to stay for another year. As well as making new Korean friends, I have also met a lot of people from other English speaking countries and the camaraderie and banter that goes on between us makes life in and out of the academy so much fun.

I couldn’t imagine going back to live under the UK’s dull and overcast skies to work in a dreary office again after teaching in Korea. I find that I’m so much more active here. I go to the golf range almost everyday, I’ve learnt how to play baseball, I’m a member of an exclusive gym and pool which is so much cheaper here and I can go into bar at anytime of the day. I love teaching and I am so grateful to Total English for allowing me the opportunity to come and teach in Korea.
