About Total English
Total English is South Korea's largest English instructor recruitment agency providing graduate instructors for Korea's most prestigious English language academies.
Total English was set up in 1999 by Jae Hyoung.
I set up Total English to provide English-speaking graduates from the UK and the US with the opportunity to live and work in Korea and experience a different culture and lifestyle. The pleasure I get from seeing our graduate instructors developing new skills and enjoying the delights that Korea has to offer brings me as much pleasure and satisfaction as the day I started Total English. We have placed more than 2000 English Instructors over seven years and I am pleased to say that we have provided all our instructors with a caring and efficient service that has brought them a lot of happiness.
About our associate academies
Our associate academies teach students from the age of 9 - 16 and are open from 2pm - 9pm. The students come to our academies directly after school. The academies have their own materials and textbooks and syllabuses. However, our instructors have the autonomy to introduce fun games or activities whenever they feel fit. You will spend your first day or two being inducted and observing another teacher. Luckily, you will not be expected to teach complicated grammatical points. This is left to your Korean partner teacher who teaches your students twice or three times a week. By the time the students appear in your lesson, the Korean teacher has already familiarized them with the key language points that you will be covering in your textbook during the lesson. The native English instructor teaches functional and conversational English. The most important part of the instructor's job is creating a happy atmosphere for the students to learn.
What services do Total English provide?
Total English's associate academies are all vetted annually. Total English checks with the academy's local City Hall's education department to ensure that the academy's licence has been renewed and that the academy still has a clean record. An academy that has been black listed or has had a license revoked will not be considered by Total English.
Total English carries out thorough checks on all of our associate academies. facilities and accommodation to ensure that our instructors have a comfortable stay.
We are proud of the support we provide our instructors and academies and proud of our five year affiliation with KCOR (The Korean Council for Overseas Recruitment) which means undergoing stringent checks every year to keep our KCOR license.
